5 Healthy Sweet Snacks To Curb Your Sugar Cravings

By Ashley Blevins January 13, 2016

As a person in denial of having a really serious sweet tooth, I’ve found myself on a mission to find an arsenal of sweet snacks that make me feel sated without the icky after effects sugary snacks leave me feeling. Here are some super simple, super delicious alternatives you might want to throw into your mix!

1. Cinnamon Sugar Roasted Chickpeas
I never thought of chickpeas as a sweet snacking option but these are delicious. They’re incredibly cheap to make and totally foolproof. Roasting the chickpeas leaves them super crisp and they’re the perfect on the go snack. They’re also packed with fiber which is always a plus. The internet is full of great seasoning variations waiting for you to try but here is one we love from Strength and Sunshine.

2. Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Bites
So many good things in one small little bite. Again, these are super easy to make but so delicious. And we’re all in agreement that chocolate is good for you from time to time otherwise we’d all cease to exist. This recipe from Eat Good 4 Life makes plenty so you’ll have some waiting in the freezer whenever you feel the nudge.

3. Homemade Fruit Popsicles
It may be winter but who doesn’t love a popsicle any day any time? This Watermelon-Blueberry Ice Pop from Eating Well looks like a frosty treat straight out of our dreams. This recipe calls for a little bit of sugar added, but it’s nothing in comparison to most store bought pops. Plus you can find adorable molds on Amazon that you’ll want to use at every given chance. (Adorable aquatic pops please!)

4. Apple Pie Protein Bars
Since it’s probably not the best idea to eat pie ever single day, we’ll take these as a close second. These bars from The Big Man’s World are paleo, vegan and gluten free. They’re also delicious.

5. Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
Making your own frozen yogurt is a huge win because it’s not only healthy and fast, it’s a super cheap alternative to constantly buying it out. This awesome recipe from Just A Taste takes only five minutes and four ingredients. You’ll feel like a froyo wizard impressing everyone with your healthy dessert delights.

Happy sweet snacking!
